An Intelligent Technology for Identifying Audio Recordings

MuSeek is a patented audio-recognition system, based on an algorithm. The Software/Plugin enables song identification by fingerprint analysis.

The MuSeek Technology can be used for purposes such as providing information about music, facilitating music usage reporting, recording and acquiringmusic online.

The Concept

Using the MuSeek audio recognition system means that audio stream are run through the MuSeek Algorithm, so that fingerprints are taken in interesting spots in the audio. This Process results in a fingerprint database.

By linking the information in the fingerprint database with a database containing metadata such as song title and artist, we achive a comprehensive database. The comprehensive database combined with the MuSeek audio recognition system enables us to continuously fingerprint and identfy audio recordings in radio broadcasts, iPods, CDs, PCs, etc.

The MuSeek audio recognition system has been developed during the last 7 years. The brand name and technology have been protected in a number of countries.

Advantages

The main advantages of the MuSeek technology are:

  • No watermarking or altering of music files
  • Fingerprint cannot ne erased
  • Compact size of fingerprint
  • Simple to run as Plugin to standart music player software
  • Distinguishes between different recordings of the same song
  • Works in any part of the song
  • Tolerant to manipulations such as compression and analog transmission

Applications

MuSeek is adaptable for various uses and players, for example:

  • MuSeek can provide automated information about music for listeners
  • MuSeek can be used for automatically generating music usage reports for radio stations, TV channels, right owners, collecting societies, etc.
  • MuSeek con offer an convenient and unique way of listening to, discovering, recording and acquiring music in various channels
  • MuSeek can provide an intelligent solution for licensing online

The MuSeek Team

Originally the inventor of MuSeek, Christoph Dworzak, set out to compress audio in a way that was superior to mp3. Eventually this led him to come up with the idea of an audio recognition system. Since he was one of the Senior Partners of the innovation company Creaholic AG, it was natural that the system was evaluated and explored in a wider context. The patent was filed in April 2000. Later the Zürich based company GPI AG joined the Team to market it to the world.

Independence

As information technology is not creaholics core business, in late 2006, the company dworzak.ch gmbh was founded to continue the devlopment of the MuSeek technology. Currently we are busy producing our first applications...
